NASA Lunar Rover Challenge

10/2013 - 4/2014

In fall 2013 and spring 2014, I worked in a team of ten RISD students to design and build an innovative human-powered vehicle, and raced it in NASA's Human Exploration Rover Challenge 2014, as a year-long extra-curricular challenge.

As a member of the RISD team, I took on the design of mechanical fixtures for the collapsible frame, as well as leading the design and fabrication of airless wheels.

The process involves many trails and errors, research and material exploration. Team working skills were also crucial to the completion of our Lunar Rover, and the final race at the NASA Space Center in Alabama allowed us to have a deeper insight into our design and greater understanding of how it could be better in the future.
